About us Apna Siliguri

Siliguri City has tremendous importance not only for its own people but almost entire North Bengal, North Eastern states, Sikkim, Bhutan and some portions of Nepal and Bangladesh are dependent on this unique city. It is the biggest trade and commercial center for the entire region. The city provides excellent medical facilities for the people. Siliguri is the supply line of the essential commodities. It is connected with the rest of the country by roadways, railways, and airways. The nearest important Railway station is at New Jalpaiguri(NJP) under N.F. Railway just 3 km away from the heart of the City. Bagdogra Airport at a distance of 12 Km is the only airport that also caters to the need of Sikkim. The National Highway 31 & 55 connect Siliguri with other major places of North-Eastern India. Over the years the city has seen immense growth in every sector of the economy. The beautiful hill stations like Darjeeling, Sikkim, Kalimpong, and East Nepal are adjacent to it. The city itself has been modernized and beautified to attract tourists. Siliguri got its Sub-Divisional status in the year 1907 and presently it has got four(4) C.D. Blocks, namely, Matigara, Phansidewa, Naxalbari & Khoribari and one Corporation area – Siliguri Municipal Corporation under its administrative jurisdiction. The city has an unimaginable scope for further expansion. However, the expansion needs to be properly planned so that it looks beautiful and there is no congestion of road traffic. Bagdogra Airport should be given the status of an international airport keeping in view there are no international airports nearby and the foreign countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Tibet Autonomous Region of China are nearest countries. Other South East Asian countries are nearer to Bagdogra Airport. Broad Guage railway line May be laid down to connect Siliguri with Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.About Siliguri.
