Punishment declared after 35 years in Raja Mansingh massacre, life imprisonment for 11 policemen


Mathura: Sentencing has been announced after 35 years in the famous Raja Mansingh massacre of Bharatpur. The District Judge of Mathura, while giving his verdict, has sentenced 11 guilty policemen to life imprisonment. It also includes the then CO Kan Singh Bhati and SHO Virendra Singh.

The court of District Judge Sadhana Rani Thakur on Tuesday found 11 policemen guilty in the Raja Mansingh murder case. At the same time, 3 accused have also died in this 35 year old case. 4 policemen have been proved innocent. At the same time, the family of the late King Mansingh expressed happiness over the decision of the court.

Maan Singh was murdered 35 years ago
The incident took place on 21 February 1985, when there was an electoral atmosphere in Rajasthan. Independent candidate Raja Man Singh of Deeg assembly constituency took his Joga Jeep and left from Lal Kunda Election Office in front of Deeg police station for campaigning. Where the police surrounded them and began firing rapidly. Raja Man Singh, his companions Summer Singh and Hari Singh died in the incident, all the bodies were found in a Joga jeep.

After this incident, Virender Singh, SHO of Deeg police station filed a section 307 report against Raja Man Singh’s son-in-law Vijay Singh Sirohi and arrested both along with his partner Babulal. However, his bail was granted the same night. After which, on 22 February, Raja Man Singh was cremated inside the palace.

On 23 February 1985, Raja Mansingh’s son-in-law Vijay Singh lodged a case of murder of Raja Man Singh and two others at Deeg police station. In this, many policemen including CO Kan Singh Bhati, SHO Virendra Singh were accused. After which the case was handed over to the CBI within three-four days.

The murder case went to the special CBI court of Jaipur and after the order of the Supreme Court in 1990, the case was transferred to the Mathura Court. Significantly, a day before the murder, on February 20, 1985, an FIR was registered against Raja Man Singh for breaking the helicopter and platform of the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shivcharan Mathur.

78 Date of judgment could be fixed after testimony
In the whole case, 61 witnesses were produced by the prosecution and 17 witnesses were presented by the defense. Many of whom were also eyewitnesses. The date of the decision can be fixed after the date on the date.

3 accused died and one acquitted
The CBI has given a charge sheet against a total of 18 accused in the Raja Man Singh murder case. Of these, three accused ASI Nekiram, Constable Kuldeep and Sitaram have died, while the driver of Kan Singh Bhati Mahendra Singh was acquitted by the court of the District Judge.
