new Delhi: The Supreme Court will decide on Wednesday on the reorganization of the judicial commission created by the UP government to investigate the Vikas Dubey Encounter. According to the opinion of the Supreme Court, now the name of a retired judge of the Supreme Court and a retired DGP will also be added to the inquiry commission. The UP government will submit the draft notification of the formation of the new inquiry commission to the Supreme Court.
‘Rule of law is the responsibility of the state government’
In the hearing on Monday, the Supreme had said that this aspect should also be seen that what statements were made by people like UP CM and Deputy CM? Did the police do the same? In the hearing, the Supreme Court also raised some questions. The Supreme Court said that it is the responsibility of the state government to establish the rule of law. The Supreme Court summoned records from the UP government. The Chief Justice said that the UP government has to maintain law and order in the state.
State government did Constitution of inquiry committee
On behalf of the UP government, the Solicitor General said that the State Government has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the matter. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that Dubey tried to burn the bodies of the martyred policemen.
Chief Justice Bobde had asked the Solicitor General to tell us how this encounter is different from the Hyderabad encounter.
The Supreme Court said that it is the responsibility of the state to maintain law and order in the state. The CJI told the Solicitor General, ‘Don’t tell us what Vikas Dubey was’.
The petitioner had said that more than 1700 encounters occurred in the state since 2017. The petitioner demanded that the case be investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court judge.
